Joe Davis's 2002 Arcadian "Santa Lucia Highlands" Pinot Noir ... Becky and I tasted this last night with their rep and immediately accused him of "holding out" the goods! How can it be that this wine's been around since last October and we weren't told about it? Man...It's a quintessential SLH Pinot! Made from grapes sourced from Lucia, Pisoni and Garys'!!!! And it's Dee-scrumdiddly-iscious!! (Ned Flanders). All silky cherry and vanilla fruit with blackberry and soft nutmeg-cinnamon flavors wrapped up in sweet oak. Almost tastes like one of those "cherries and cream" lifesavers! Pour a splash and tell me I'm wrong. There's nothing else like it at the price. You might consider cases.
2001 Arcadian "Lafond Vineyard" Pinot Noir ... A classic. If you know someone who'd like to discover why the Santa Barbara-Santa Ynez Pinots are being called the greatest wines in CA...give em' a glass of this! Joe sources the grapes from the famous Lafond vineyard, rapidly gaining notoriety equal to the "Garys'" vineyard in recognition and demand.
2001 Arcadian "Fiddlestix" Pinot Noir ... From Kathy Joseph's vineyard famous for tiny berry, intensely flavored fruit. This one is a keeper. Tasted yesterday, we were blown away by the depth of color and body of the stuff. Almost Syrah like in character, yet with the silky, spice and cherry/blackberry flavors typical of Ynez/Barbara fruit. For what it's worth, all of Joe's wines have garnered rave reviews in the mainstream wine press as well as the Pinot specialty publications such as the "Pinot Report", "Patty's Pinot Closet" and "Pinot N-V" The wine lover's guide to sexual ambiguity in Frogs". (I threw that one in to see if you're still paying attention).
