90 Arcadian 1999 Gary's Vineyard Robert O'Fleming Cuvee Syrah (Monterey); $50. The bouquet of this "big and chewy" Syrah is a complex tiramisu, black-cherry and smoke melange. More than one reviewer described this Syrah's palate as "very black," and noted distinctive charcoal, black-pepper, plum and chocolate flavors. Finishes pretty black, too, with black pepper, toast and even tannins.
